Use The Greenway Today

Five miles of the Greenway are already in place, including Kent Avenue, Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Columbia Street, and the northern end of Van Brunt St. Two additional miles along West Street and around the Brooklyn Navy Yard will break ground in 2015.

Run The Greenway

Each fall, BGI hosts the Brooklyn Greenway Half, a half marathon and 5K exclusively on the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. This run highlights BGI’s progress in achieving a fully completed greenway along the Brooklyn waterfront, as well as showcasing city and state parks.

Party On The Greenway

Each year, BGI holds two benefit events to raise funds to support the organization’s work.

Summer: New Views 2014 is BGI’s annual summer fundraiser held in June at a newly-opened or newly-accessible section of the waterfront. The event features tastings from Brooklyn’s best restaurants and distilleries. Previous benefits have been held at the East River State Park, Erie Basin Park, One Brooklyn Bridge Park, Industry City, Liberty Warehouse and Northside Piers.

Fall: Greenway+Industry is BGI’s annual Fall benefit and is Brooklyn’s premiere networking event.

Make Art On The Greenway

Brooklyn Greenway Initiative Gallery features artists who live or work along the greenway route. 30% of all sales proceeds are donated to support BGI’s work, and all purchasers also receive a one-year BGI membership.
