Brooklyn Waterfront Epic Ride

Over 400 cyclists enjoyed an overcast but (mostly!) rain-free bike ride along the Brooklyn and Queens waterfront on Saturday, July 28, 2012 as participants in the 4th Annual Brooklyn Waterfront Epic Ride. The 40-mile ride started in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and ended at Rockaway Beach.

The Epic Ride highlights the potential of a completed Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway and a completed Jamaica Bay Greenway. It is co-sponsored by Brooklyn Greenway Initiative, the Transportation Alternatives Brooklyn Volunteer Committee, Regional Plan Association, National Park Service, and the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance. Special thanks to the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation and the NYC Department of Transportation.

Thanks to our event sponsors: Con Edison, Aviator Sports, REI, Inc., Brownstoner, UncommonGoods, Rockaway Beach Club and the Mexican Museums. Additional support was provided by the NYS Department of State Local Waterfront Revitalization Program under Title 11 of the NYS Environmental Protection Fund, sponsored by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz; The J. M. Kaplan Fund; Brooklyn Community Foundation; and NYC Council Members Brad Lander and Steve Levin.

Finally, a very special thank-you to our fantastic ride marshals and volunteers!
