| For 10 years, the landscape at the Naval Cemetery has been Brooklyn Greenway Initiative’s signature green space and respite for the public on the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. Climate-resilient. A pollinator meadow of native plants. A habitat for birds, bats, and insects. In 2026, as Brooklyn Greenway Initiative celebrates a decade as creator and steward of this historic site, we are thrilled to announce a first for the landscape, the greenway, the borough of Brooklyn, and New York City at-large: the Naval Cemetery Landscape is now the Greenway Botanical Garden at the Naval Cemetery, and will soon be the first-ever botanical garden in NYC to be accredited by Botanical Gardens Conservation International. |
