Spring has sprung in Brooklyn!
Flowers are blooming, trees are budding, and the Greenway is buzzing with activity. 2020 was the busiest year to date as more than 1.3 million people came to the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway for transportation, exercise and fresh air, and to safely connect with family and friends.
Meanwhile, BGI’s Naval Cemetery Landscape is resuming summer hours and opening to the public 5 days a week so more people can enjoy the spring bloom.
Join us to support the expansion of greenways and access to nature in NYC!

$25 — Eastern Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) supports Eastern carpenter bees and brown-belted bumblebees throughout the year.
$50 — Bee Balm (Monarda fistulosa) supports long tongued bees, butterflies, moths, and hummingbirds.
$100 — Golden Alexander (Zizia aurea) is a host plant for the Black Swallowtail butterfly.
$250 — Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa) supports butterflies and hummingbirds by providing nectar, and goldfinches and orioles by providing nesting material.
$500 — Redbud Tree (Cercis canadensis) supports butterflies and hummingbirds by providing nectar, and chickadees and goldfinches by providing seeds.
$1,000 — New Street Tree adjacent to the Greenway and the entrance to Naval Cemetery Landscape.
