BGI and Greenpoint residents opened up West Street from Quay to Greenpoint Avenue last weekend as part of NYC’s Open Streets program. The stretch will be open from 10 AM – 6 PM weekends only, for now.
We know Brooklynites are flooding the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway for exercise, recreation, and commuting purposes. We will continue to pursue the full scope of our proposal to include the northern segment of West Street and along Eagle St to connect with the Pulaski Bridge, as well as other proposals for the Greenway connector over Gowanus Canal and Emmons Avenue in Sheepshead Bay. BGI is working tirelessly to close the other major gaps in the Greenway and invest this essential infrastructure for a strong recovery and healthier future.
