COVID-19 Updates

Continue to check this page for the latest updates related to BGI operations and program changes due to the Coronavirus outbreak in New York City. Please also follow @BKGreenway and @NavalCemeteryLandscape on social media for updates.

The Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway is a safe route for exercise, recreation, and transportation.

When using the Greenway for transportation or recreation, please wear a mask and be mindful of other users by keeping a safe distance –runners and cyclists moving at higher speeds need to allow more space. Stay informed of the latest guidelines from the Department of Health.

To help ensure a safe experience for all Greenway users, BGI has installed COVID-19 health guidelines signs along the entire 26-mile route from East New York to Greenpoint.

The Naval Cemetery Landscape is Open.

The Naval Cemetery Landscape at the Brooklyn Navy Yard is open for solitary enjoyment. To ensure staff and public safety, we are limiting the number of people allowed in at one time to provide space for physical distancing and require that all visitors wear a mask. The 1.7-acre Landscape is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM – 5 PM. Be sure to follow @navalcemeterylandscape to visit virtually and as we develop new online programs.

You can help BGI.

Have you been using The Greenway during the Pandemic for exercise, recreation, or transportation? Please give to support this essential open space.

2020 has been the Greenway’s busiest year to date as more than 1 million people have turned to Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway for safe transportation, exercise and fresh air, and to connect with family and friends in a socially-distant way. BGI is working harder than ever to realize the full vision of the 26-mile Greenway when New Yorkers need it more than ever. But we need your help to realize this vision.

Donate today to support the completion of the Greenway and the vision of a greener, stronger, healthier Brooklyn.
