Brooklyn Bird Club: birds and insects at the Naval Cemetery Landscape

May 25 | 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Join Brooklyn Bird Club and BGI gardeners for a walk covering birds & insects at the native meadow at the Naval Cemetery Landscape.

Leaders: Matthew Wills, naturalist (BBC) and Eric Thompson, gardener and naturalist (BGI)

Focus: Explore this native pollinator meadow and memorial landscape. The walk will focus primarily on insects and late migrating birds. This event will be at the Naval Cemetery Landscape (NCL). The NCL is fully operated and made open as a public space by Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI)through the generosity of our supporters. Stop by and enjoy the NCL’s native pollinator habitat and contemplative memorial urban meadow and learn about the NCL and the Greenway and what goes into maintaining their beauty and accessibility for every visitor, especially the many species of birds for which we intentionally cultivate habitat and resources!

This site is managed by the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative who will give a BBC a presentation from the previous week. Check the Brooklyn Bird Club meetings page on the BBC website for details.

BYOB- bring your own binoculars!

This event is free but please make sure to register/get a ticket for each attending member. As a nature observation event we will be limiting the number of participants.
